100% Royalty Free
Anything you download is yours to use royalty free, all within the flat price of your subscription fee. There's no need to track different licenses used for each asset or project, and no surprise bills after your campaign launches.
Worldwide Distribution
Our license has no restrictions on geography, or the number of times a project is viewed. We want your stories to be seen far and wide. Check your plan details to make sure you are covered for the channels that you need.
In Perpetuity
Anything you create and publish during your time as a Storyblocks member will be covered by our license - forever. Your license never expires, so your stories can live on too.
YouTube Claims Support
Our platform helps you proactively avoid Content ID claims, so you won't risk delays when publishing your videos to YouTube. If any issues do arise, our support team will jump in to assist to get your claim resolved quickly.

What rights are included with the Business license?
- All licenses are royalty-free in perpetuity—you’ll never have to pay royalty fees to keep your license.
- Unlimited projects—there’s no need to track how many times you’ve used your assets.
- Licenses are valid worldwide—there are no geographic restrictions.
- Truly unlimited distribution—there’s no limit on merchandising, print, broadcast, OTT or feature films. Assets can also be used for political campaigns.
- Includes up to $1,000,000 indemnification for both the user and the business.
- License covers usage across a team or company for both internal and commercial projects.
What rights are included with the Individual license?
- All licenses are royalty-free in perpetuity — you’ll never have to pay royalty fees to keep your license.
- Unlimited projects — there’s no need to track how many times you’ve used your assets.
- Licenses are valid worldwide—there are no geographic restrictions.
- Includes up to $20,000 indemnification for the individual license holder.
- License covers usage by the individual for both personal and commercial projects.
A few restrictions on the Individual license include:
- Assets cannot be used for TV, broadcast, streaming, OTT productions, or feature films
- Assets cannot be used in political campaigns
- The license and raw assets can not be transferred to any other user or organization.
What does it mean if an asset is licensed to a “business” or “individual”?
Assets licensed to a business include usage rights for your teams' seat holders, along with indemnification for your entity or company. You’re covered for up to $1M in indemnification and truly unlimited distribution. Your downloads can be shared across a team, department, or even entire company, depending on the teams who are covered in the license agreement.
Assets licensed to an individual provide legal coverage and usage rights for the individual license holder only. Standalone stock media files licensed to an individual cannot be shared with others. While you can share your finished projects, you do not have the rights to distribute the underlying, original stock media assets or project files.
Why does indemnification matter?
A Storyblocks license guarantees that any and all content use, as provided for in the contract, will not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party. We’ll bet our own money on it.
If claims do arise, we’ll help handle the legal claims for you and ensure you’re covered for legal payout up to your indemnification limit.
Are there other limitations?
We try to keep our licenses as restriction-free as possible, but we do have a few limitations. We've highlighted some of the most important ones below:
- You can’t re-sell or re-license any of our stock files.
- You cannot use our stock files in a way that encourages violence or for unlawful purposes.
- You cannot use our stock files as logos or trademarks.
- If there’s a recognizable person or property in one of our images or videos, we’ll clearly indicate whether that content has been “Model Released” or “Property Released.” A release means that the model or property owner gave permission for their likeness to be used in commercial projects. If you don’t see a release indicated, you can probably still use the content, but you need to get written permission from the model or property owner to be fully covered.
- You cannot use our stock files as or as part of an NFT
- You cannot use our stock files to train AI or machine learning models, or as part of projects that are created entirely by AI platforms
- You cannot upload or share music and audio files to digital streaming platforms (eg. Spotify) or sharing platforms.
- You cannot use assets in campaigns that may be considered ‘sensitive use’ or potentially offensive.
- You cannot stockpile assets for use after your Storyblocks subscription ends. The Individual license only covers assets in campaigns or projects that are published during an active Storyblocks subscription.
